Contestants in the reality series Homeless Survivor hit the streets of Detroit with only a rusty Bic razor, their wits, and a fourteen person camera crew. Each week, newly homeless survivors compete to win a night’s stay in a burnt out Ford Fusion sedan while the rest of the cast fights for space under a dilapidated pedestrian bridge. Contestants are eliminated every week through a special vote via videophone, sponsored by Cisco, the world’s leading leading supplier of networking equipment and network management for the Internet.

Competitors in the pilot include Jackson Cho, a Stanford trained medical doctor with experience in the troubled Darfur region of Sudan, and Sarah Elizabeth Crowne, a Yale Divinity School student who also appeared in a special Ivy League edition of Playboy. To make the show a more realistic simulation of homelessness, contestants each choose a substance addiction, physical handicap, or crippling psychological experience before coming on the show. Sponsors are currently being sought for each. Celebrity guests will appear throughout the first season, and possibly homeless celebrity Pauly Shore has committed to host. The winner takes home a million dollar prize and a lifetime’s supply of Listerine Mouthwash. A portion of proceeds from the program will be donated to the Los Angeles Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
